RAK, UAE Company Formation

The UAE is fully sovereign Constitutional Federation of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

RAK (Ras Al Khaimah) is located on the eastern side of the Arabian Gulf. It is about an hour’s drive from Dubai and from Dubai airport. A little further away is the international airport of Abu Dhabi.


There are many jurisdictions offering offshore companies, however, what distinguishes RAK companies from many others is that it is a ‘no tax emirate’. Therefore, there are no personal or corporate taxes in the UAE at present.

There are two types of RAK companies that we offer to our clients:
RAK International Company - RAK IC
RAK Free Zone Company - RAK FZ

RAK IC (International Company)

RAK IC company - suitable for trading anywhere in the world other than UAE. RAK IC companies are not allowed to trade, employ staff, or rent premises in the UAE. 

Only a registered office is required in order to receive government mail. Our fee includes this. 

Accounts should be maintained & provided to shareholders, however, there is no requirement file these accounts. 

A RAK IC can be 100% foreign owned & controlled. A personal visit is not required to open a RAK IC.

Opening a local UAE account is not possible.

RAK Free Zone (FZ) company

A licence is required e.g. consulting, trading etc. Costs vary and will be quoted for by RAK ICC.

With a free zone company you can have work permit for one or more persons.

A physical office/office space is required. We can help you with finding the right office for your needs.

Accounts should be maintained and filed. 

This type of company, can open a local bank account.

After initial approval by the registry a visit to RAK is required to finalise the formation. Formation timescale around month or so.

Ras Al Khaimah International Company, or RAK IC Company* is ideal for businesses wishing to be registered in the UAE but not intending to conduct any business within the Emirates

Registered office, registered agent, and company secretary

A RAK IC must maintain a registered office and a registered agent within Ras Al Khaimah. A Company Secretary is also required – this can be a corporate entity or a person of any nationality. 

Director and shareholder requirements

A RAK IC Company may have one or more shareholders - corporate entities or natural persons. The shareholder and director can be the same person and/or corporate entity. Bearer shares are not allowed.

Formation timescale 

Incorporation of a RAK International Company is fast. It takes about 7 working days to form your company from the day all the necessary documents are received at the RAK ICC registry. A RAK IC must have the suffix ‘Ltd’ (Limited).

Tax rate 

Ras Al Kaimah is a 'no tax' emirate therefore there are no personal or corporate taxes.

Filing Of Accounts/ Financial Statements for Cyprus Companies

Accounts should be maintained but there is no requirement for these to be filed or audited.


There is no public disclosure of either director or shareholder information. A court order would be required to disclose any information to 3rd parties. In addition the registry does not maintain any information regarding the beneficial owner.
